The one thing that I never expected from a brand new baby was how interactive and alert they are. Sure he took a lot of naps but his awake times were amazing. It was exhausting, however, but we expected that. We were both so thankful for all the visitors and meals that showed up that first month - or I doubt we would have had any good food to eat. Nathan was held by many people, its awesome how loved he already was and we were glad to share. Slowly he started knowing who we were - Momma is food and Daddy is fun. We sang to him, gave sponge baths and held him and pushed him to do some tummy time. It was crazy how strong he already was!

When he was about 10 days old our a/c starting acting up and we stayed with family for about a week until it was finally deemed not fixable and needed to be replaced. He adjusted well over at the different houses, but it was good to be home again. Once we were home we decided it was time for him to sleep in his crib in his room. That step proved to be the right one and he did so well from then on.
He also started noticing the big hairy objects around ... talking about our sweet golden retrievers Bailey and Goldie and our tomcat Rex. We jokingly call Nate the little brother since the animals are his older siblings.
When he was about 3 weeks old I got a horrible breast infection and couldn't nurse him for a few days. I was scared about how he would take to a bottle and formula but he was such a champ and we made it through those rough times.
My dad (Grandpa) feeding him while I went to the doctor. Mom (Gi Gi) also took off a couple days
and made sure I ate and helped me take care of Nathan.
And he grew and grew and grew!
